I am Leah Thomas the President of the Alpha Upsilon chapter of Kappa Delta. Welcome to our chapter's website! Our chapter is part of a national sisterhood, with 230,000+ initiated members across the country. Together we build confidence and inspire action in all of our members by offering opportunities for leadership, personal development, academic success, friendship, and community service.
Being a part of Greek Life provides the opportunity to make lifelong friends who share common values. Joining a sorority allows for growth by learning from one another. Growth - in personality, leadership, social success, etc. - is something we strive for in Kappa Delta, and it starts by building confidence in our members.
As President I have seen each member grow throughout their college career, into mature young women who believe in themselves and encourage others. Our members are high achievers on campus, involved in over 50 campus organizations including sports teams, tutoring positions, various honors societies, Student Government Association, and others. Many of our sisters hold leadership positions in these organizations as captains or executives.
We strive for excellence, and Kappa Delta gives many of us the confidence to pursue our goals and reach for the extraordinary. Alpha Upsilon has seen success in other areas, such as completing a successful Shamrock Shootout to benefit Prevent Child Abuse America and The Exchange Club of Birmingham, having the 4th highest GPA of all Greek organizations, and winning Sigma Chi's Derby Days competition to raise money for both philanthropies. However, the biggest success is who we become thanks to our Kappa Delta values and the love from our sisters.
With the help of Kappa Delta's Confidence Coalition, we push each other outside of our comfort zones in order to become the young women we have always hoped we would be, and the memories, alongside growth, is absolutely irreplaceable thanks to Kappa Delta and our sisters. Thank you for visiting Alpha Upsilon's website!
