Welcome to the website of the Alpha Upsilon chapter of Kappa Delta! Our chapter is part of a national sisterhood with 230,000+ initiated members across the country. Together we build confidence and inspire action in all of our members by offering opportunities for leadership, personal development, academic success, friendship and community service.
Alpha Upsilon has had a very exciting year! In the fall, we raised over $6,700 at our annual Shamrock 5k to benefit the Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Center and Prevent Child Abuse America. This year, our sisters have also collectively participated in over 1,300 hours of community service, doing everything from working with animals at the Humane Society to tutoring at local elementary schools. We also started a new philanthropy event: holding a donation drive at the end of the year for students to use their extra Panther Bucks to buy items to donate to First Light Women's Shelter.
At this year's Relay for Life, our chapter was awarded the Spirit of Relay Award for being the team that best embodied the spirit of Relay with our luau-themed tent. During Greek Week, we won 1st place in Greek Sing and also in the banner competition. This past semester, we won four intramural championships - ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, softball, and basketball - and we are the 2016 Intramural All-Sports Champions. Not only are intramurals fun to play in, but we also have a great time cheering our sisters on from the sidelines!
Many of our sisters have also been individually recognized for their hard work and leadership. For example, our president won the Corre Anding Stegall Leadership Award, Kappa Delta’s highest individual collegiate honor presented to the top echelon of Kappa Delta student leaders, based on high academic performance and exemplary leadership within the chapter, on campus and in the community. Two of our sisters also won the Greek Emerging Leader and Greek Achiever of the Year awards at the annual Greek awards ceremony. Several of our sisters are also currently serving as the president of organizations and honor societies like the Stump Entrepreneurial Scholars in the business program and the Phi Sigma Iota, Beta Sigma Delta, and Mortar Board honor societies. As a result of our sisters' academic success, 55% of our members were on the Dean's List in the spring semester, helping us achieve the second highest GPA of all the sororities, a 3.42.
We hope that our website gives you a glimpse into our sisterhood. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to get to know our chapter better or if you have any questions!
